Journal Excerpts
I value reflection from others in my teaching but I also think self reflection is important. Here are a few excerpts from my teaching journal.

"Thursday February 20: Today was my first full day teaching every period, as Rita is away. It was so fun! And, I did so well! All the students were excited and learning. It was a lot easier than I expected it to be! The only challenging part was not having enough time to take out and put away materials as there is no time between classes. I love student teaching! I love watching the improvements I have made since I have started! and I LOVE getting to teach all day and inspire the students! It is my favorite to watch a student walk down the hall singing a song from your class! The look in a sixth graders eyes when they are intrigued is amazing!"
"Friday February 21: It has been a long productive week. Today went really well, but the students were all extremely talkative. Some of my lessons went better than yesterday and some worse. This mainly has to do with the fact that the level of the classes is not the same. Some classes have more students with individual needs and meeting those needs takes more time and requires the class to move slower. In music, every part is equally important, and needs to be heard. This can be challenging for some students. I am excited for next week as well. During the morning break and after school I finished making boards and music for next week and I am so excited to present this to the students!"

Chorus and Band Concerts
A large part of music is performance. Working in collaboration with parents, organizations, other teachers and staff is the only way to have a successful concert. Recently I worked with the fifth and sixth grades for their concert at Baggaley Elementary, with the cast of Beauty and the Beast at Greensburg Salem Middle School, and with sixth grade county chorus students. I also work in area community theaters allowing me to bring those skills into the classroom.
